Magnolia kobus

Magnolia kobus, commonly known as Northern Japanese magnolia, is an attractive deciduous tree with a broadly conical habit, reaching a height of 10 metres and spread of 6 metres over 20 years. In spring, it produces an abundance of fragrant, white star-shaped flowers, creating a stunning blossom display that stands out in any garden. This is followed by pink fruits in the summer.

This Japanese Magnolia features interesting bark, usually silvery or brownish-grey, and displays mid-green leaves up to 15cm in length. In autumn, its leaves turn a yellowish-brown before falling for the winter.

Magnolia kobus thrives in moist but well-drained soils and prefers a position in full sun to partial shade. It is a hardy and relatively low-maintenance tree, making it an excellent choice for larger gardens, parks, or as a striking focal point in a landscape. With its beautiful flowers and attractive foliage, Magnolia kobus adds elegance and charm to any garden setting.
