Acer palmatum 'Coonara Pygmy' Tree

A fantastic little tree, this dwarf variety of Japanese Maple is a great option for small-scale autumn colour. Dense and bushy, Acer palmatum Coonara Pygmy is slow-growing and considerably smaller than other upright Japanese Maples, reaching a height and spread of approx. 1.5 x 1.5 metres in 20 years. New leaves emerge with tones of pale pink, turning pale green in summer and then stunning shades of yellow, orange and red in autumn.

Coonara Pygmy’s small size and upright habit lends itself well to smaller gardens and spaces, and it is suited to container growing so would make a great addition to a patio garden. Tolerating most moist, well-draining soils, and a full sun to partial shade position, we recommend planting Coonara Pygmy in a rock garden or as part of a mixed border.
